Our Sustainability Story

Here at Boyd, we believe sustainability is a responsibility we all share. The future of manufacturing— and the future in general— will require leaders to balance environmental impact with efficiency and innovation.

The Most Sustainable Product Is One You Don’t Replace

Sustainability starts with durability.

Dental chairs, exam tables, and specialty cabinetry are not disposable goods. They are investments in both the longevity of your practice as well as our planet. Our manufacturing philosophy prioritizes a long serviceable life to reduce premature replacements, minimize waste, and lower the lifetime environmental footprint of every product.

When equipment lasts longer:

  • Fewer raw materials are extracted

  • Less waste enters landfills

  • Practices reduce long-term capital expenditures

  • Shipping emissions decrease over time

Manufacturing with Intention in Clearwater, Florida

At our Clearwater, Florida headquarters, we are particularly aware of the impact of careless waste and a changing climate. With care for our local ecosystem in mind, we actively work to reduce waste and improve material efficiency throughout our manufacturing processes.

Recycling at Scale

Boyd prioritizes recycling metals, plastics, cardboard, foam, and other materials generated during production. These materials are collected, sorted, and reintroduced into broader manufacturing cycles.

In one year alone, our team recycled:

  • 43,769 lbs of Kydex plastic

  • 15,580 lbs of cardboard

Our efforts have earned Environmental Excellence Awards from industry leaders in recycling and environmental consulting.

Manufacturing will always require materials— but responsible stewardship can make a huge difference to our impact.

Plastics Pollution Prevention Program

Healthcare environments depend on plastics for sterility, durability, and compliance. However, reducing unnecessary plastic use is essential for long-term environmental health.

Our Plastics Pollution Prevention Program focuses on:

  • Internal recycling of production plastics

  • Researching recycled or biodegradable plastic alternatives

  • Identifying resources to reduce single-use plastics in dental offices

  • Supporting local environmental protection initiatives

We’re continuously researching opportunities to reduce our waste without sacrificing quality, particularly through the use of biodegradable packaging.

Leadership & Local Roots

Before leading Boyd Industries, CEO Adrian LaTrace built a career in renewable energy manufacturing, overseeing wind turbine production and installation across North America. His background informs Boyd’s commitment to responsible production, operational efficiency, and forward-thinking environmental strategy.

We also work to support organizations focused on coastal conservation, environmental stewardship, and sustainable products, helping preserve natural resources for future generations. Healthy communities and healthy ecosystems go hand in hand.

Sustainability in Healthcare

For dental practices, oral surgery centers, and medical specialty clinics, sustainability can influence:

  • Purchasing decisions

  • Equipment lifecycle costs

  • Office waste reduction

  • Brand reputation with environmentally-conscious patients

  • Compliance with emerging environmental standards

Choosing durable, responsibly manufactured equipment is a practical sustainability strategy.

The Road Ahead

Sustainability more than one action or one moment, it is an ongoing commitment. For us, that looks like:

  • Expanding material research

  • Increasing recycling efficiency

  • Exploring responsible sourcing

  • Reducing operational waste

  • Supporting environmental initiatives in our community

At Boyd Industries, we believe healthcare equipment can be engineered to serve patients, practitioners, and the planet. What’s one commitment you can make for your community today?
